From News Desk to Jail: Former Anchor Accused of Killing Mother

A former television news anchor, Angelynn “Angie” Mock, has been charged with first-degree murder after allegedly stabbing her 80-year-old mother to death in Wichita, Kansas.

According to the Sedgwick County Police Department, officers responded to a report of a “cutting” at a residence around 7:52 a.m. on October 31. Upon arrival, they found Mock, 47, outside the home and later discovered her mother, Anita Avers, unresponsive in bed with multiple stab wounds.

Avers was rushed to a nearby hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after. Mock was also treated for undisclosed injuries before being taken into custody. She is currently being held at the Sedgwick County Jail on a $1 million bond.

Police confirmed that the investigation remains ongoing, and a motive has yet to be determined.

Mock previously worked as a news anchor and reporter for Fox 2 in St. Louis from 2011 to 2015 before moving into a sales career. Information regarding her initial court appearance has not been released.
