D4vd Pleads Not Guilty To Murder Of 14-Year-Old Girl Found In Tesla Trunk

Date:

US musician David Burke, known professionally as D4vd, has pleaded not guilty to multiple charges including first-degree murder in the death of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez, whose dismembered remains were previously discovered in the trunk of a Tesla in Hollywood.

The 21-year-old artist entered his plea on April 20 through his legal team, who requested an early preliminary hearing to challenge the prosecution’s evidence. His lawyers said they intend to “vigorously defend” his innocence, insisting he did not cause the victim’s death.

Prosecutors in Los Angeles County have charged D4vd with murder under special circumstances, including allegations of lying in wait, committing a crime for financial gain, and killing a witness in an investigation. If convicted, he faces life imprisonment without the possibility of parole, with authorities also considering whether to pursue the death penalty.

The court ordered that D4vd remain in custody without bail following his arraignment before Judge Theresa McGonigle. His legal team continues to dispute the charges, stating that evidence will show he is not responsible for the teenager’s death.

According to prosecutors, Celeste Rivas Hernandez had been missing for nearly 18 months before her remains were found in September 2025 inside a Tesla registered to the singer. The vehicle had reportedly been parked in the Hollywood Hills for weeks before being towed to an impound lot, where authorities discovered a strong odour leading to the investigation.

Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman alleged that the victim had been in a relationship with the singer when she was a minor, and that she was last seen entering his residence in April 2025 before disappearing. Prosecutors further claim she was killed after allegedly threatening to expose their relationship.

D4vd rose to fame through viral music shared on social media, later achieving mainstream success with hits such as Romantic Homicide and performing at major events including Coachella in 2025. The case remains under active investigation as prosecutors prepare for the next stage of court proceedings.
