51 Cars Destroyed in Fire at Sungai Buloh Workshop

A fire broke out at a vehicle service and painting workshop owned by a local car manufacturer in Sungai Buloh yesterday, destroying 51 cars.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) assistant director of operations Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said the department received an emergency call at 5.17pm, with firefighters from the Sungai Buloh Fire and Rescue Station arriving at the scene at 5.33pm.

Fire crews from Damansara, Rawang, Bukit Jelutong, and Petaling Jaya were also deployed to assist in extinguishing the blaze.

“A total of 27 officers and personnel, supported by five fire engines and two water tankers, were involved in the firefighting operation,” he said in a statement today.

The fire involved a Class B building used as a car service and painting workshop, covering an area of approximately 200 by 200 square feet.

The blaze was brought under control at 6.28pm, with preliminary assessments confirming that 51 vehicles were completely destroyed.

“The cause of the fire and the total losses incurred are still under investigation,” Ahmad Mukhlis added.
