A forest fire broke out in Taman Seri Timah, Balakong, on Wednesday evening, prompting a swift response from fire and rescue teams.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Operations Division assistant director Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said an emergency call about the incident was received at 7.02pm.
A team of 14 firefighters from the Bandar Tun Hussein Onn Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) was immediately dispatched and arrived at the scene at 7.25pm.
According to Ahmad Mukhlis, the blaze affected a forested area atop a hill spanning approximately 1.2 hectares.
“Three fire engines were deployed — a Fire Rescue Tender (FRT), a Light Fire Rescue Tender (LFRT), and an Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) unit,” he said.
The operation also received assistance from personnel at the Seri Kembangan Fire and Rescue Station and two volunteer brigades from Balakong and Serdang.
Ahmad Mukhlis confirmed that no casualties were reported and that firefighting operations were still underway as of last night. — Bernama
