The Johor state government will raise the monthly allowance for village heads and Orang Asli leaders by RM300, effective January 2026.
The adjustment, announced under the Johor Budget 2026, will benefit 667 village heads and 46 Orang Asli leaders, with an additional allocation of RM2.6 million. The new monthly allowance will be RM1,500, up from RM1,200.
Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi said the increase recognizes the vital role these community leaders play as a bridge between the people and the state administration.
“Village heads and Orang Asli leaders are not just community representatives, but also custodians of harmony who help implement government policies at the grassroots level. This allowance increase reflects the state government’s appreciation for their service,” he said while presenting the budget at the Sultan Ismail Building in Kota Iskandar.
Onn Hafiz, who is also Machap assemblyman, emphasised that this move is part of the state’s broader effort to empower grassroots leadership and aligns with the Maju Johor 2030 vision for progress and development.
