A man was caught on dashcam acting suspiciously while pushing a handcart loaded with boxes, which he tried to conceal with cardboard. The footage later revealed that he was stealing a brand-new 65-inch Samsung TV.
The incident occurred around 2:30pm on Thursday (5th) at a home under renovation near Taman Yala, Sungai Danau. Workers had already left for the day, giving the thief an opportunity to enter the property unnoticed.
The suspect placed the TV box on a handcart and covered it with cardboard, pretending to transport trash. When the cardboard slipped during the process, he calmly picked it up and covered the box again. A passing vehicle’s dashcam captured the entire sequence.
A neighbour noticed the man’s suspicious behaviour, approached him, and questioned why he was dumping trash. Upon inspecting the handcart, the neighbour found the heavy, unopened box. The thief panicked and fled the scene.
Thanks to the quick intervention, only the 65-inch Samsung TV was stolen, while other appliances such as air conditioners remained untouched.
The homeowner has filed a police report and shared the incident in the “Sungai Danau Residents Group” on Facebook, urging locals and second-hand sellers to be alert. Residents are encouraged to report if they see the stolen TV being sold at a suspiciously low price.
The homeowner also highlighted that ongoing renovations, including a temporarily removed fence for a swimming pool, made the property more accessible. He expressed concerns over community security, noting that guards at the main entrance were unaware of the situation, and called on property management to improve safety measures for all residents.
