The decomposing body of a newborn baby boy was discovered near a telecommunications substation in Juasseh, Kuala Pilah, Negeri Sembilan, yesterday evening. Kuala Pilah Deputy District Police Chief, Deputy Superintendent Shamrol Shah Ramli, confirmed that the authorities were alerted to the grim find by a local man via telephone at approximately 6.30pm. Following the initial report, an official police statement was lodged at 6.54pm to initiate further legal and investigative action.
In response to the emergency call, a specialised team from the Kuala Pilah District Police Headquarters (IPD), supported by the Negeri Sembilan Contingent Forensic Division (D10), was dispatched to the scene. Preliminary examinations revealed that the infant was fully formed and still had his umbilical cord attached at the time of discovery. However, medical assessments suggested that the baby had been deceased for approximately two days, as the body had already begun the process of decomposition.
Despite the advanced state of the remains, physical inspections by the forensic team did not find any immediate signs of external injuries or struggle. The identity of the infant remains unknown, and the exact cause of death has yet to be determined by medical experts. Authorities have officially classified the case under Section 318 of the Penal Code, which pertains to the concealment of birth by secret disposal of a dead body.
The remains have been transported to the Tuanku Ampuan Najihah Hospital (HTAN) in Kuala Pilah, where a post-mortem examination will be conducted to establish the circumstances leading to the infant’s death. Furthermore, the police are extending their investigation to include a review of local medical records and treatment logs to identify any individuals who may be linked to the birth. This comprehensive approach aims to trace the biological parents and understand the timeline of events.
In light of the discovery, the police are urging members of the public who may have information regarding the incident to come forward and assist with the ongoing probe. Individuals with relevant details can contact the Kuala Pilah IPD at 06-4842999 or reach out directly to the Investigating Officer, Inspector Supiah Ishak, at 019-9933978.
