Driver Believed To Have Fallen Asleep Crashes Into School Fence In KL

Date:

A man is believed to have dozed off at the wheel before losing control of his vehicle and crashing into a school fence along Jalan Kampung Pasir, en route from Pantai Dalam towards Jalan Klang Lama, early Thursday morning.

Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa said the incident occurred at about 1.50am and involved a driver in his 40s who was travelling home to Seri Sentosa after meeting a friend.

“Preliminary investigations indicate that the driver of a Toyota Vios is believed to have fallen asleep, causing the vehicle to lose control and collide with the school’s perimeter fence,” he said in a statement.

The crash resulted in damage to the school’s fence, but no injuries were reported and no other road users were involved. Authorities noted that the incident could have had more serious consequences given the location.

Mohd Zamzuri added that the driver later presented himself at a police station to lodge a report and provide further details to assist investigations.

The case is being investigated under Section 43 of the Road Transport Act 1987 for careless driving.

Members of the public or witnesses with information related to the incident are urged to contact the Tun H.S. Lee Traffic Police Station at 03-2071 9999 or visit the nearest police station.
