A 58-year-old man was arrested for suspected drink-driving after he crashed into several vehicles parked along Jalan Kenari, Bayan Lepas, around midnight last night.
Southwest District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Sazalee Adam, said the incident occurred at approximately 11:55 pm when the man, driving a Honda Accord, first collided with a Proton X70 before hitting three other parked cars near the Divine Mercy Church.
“The driver was apprehended shortly after the accident by our traffic police team. Thankfully, no injuries were reported involving the suspect or any other individuals at the scene,” he said.
Preliminary checks revealed that the suspect has no criminal or drug-related records.
Sazalee added that the man was detained under Section 45A(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for driving under the influence of alcohol. He was taken to the Bayan Lepas Traffic Police Headquarters for further investigation and is expected to be remanded at the Balik Pulau Magistrate’s Court today.
The Honda Accord involved in the crash was also seized by authorities.
