A 60-year-old e-hailing driver was seriously injured after being attacked with a knife in Sepang on Monday night. The suspect later fled the scene in the victim’s car before being found injured following a road accident in Nilai.
Sepang district police chief Assistant Commissioner Norhizam Bahaman said the incident occurred at about 9.40pm at an open parking area along Jalan 2, Business Park, Medan 120, Bandar Baru Salak Tinggi.
“The victim suffered severe slash wounds to her neck and left arm after being attacked by a man believed to be armed with a sharp weapon. The suspect then escaped in the victim’s Perodua Bezza,” he said in a statement today.
The woman was rushed to Hospital Cyberjaya, where she is currently receiving treatment for her injuries.
About two hours later, at around 11.15pm, police in Nilai traced a 69-year-old local man believed to be the suspect after he was involved in a traffic accident at Taman Desa Melati, Phase 3.
Police found the man inside the victim’s vehicle, covered in blood and suffering from injuries to his neck. A kerambit knife was also recovered from the car.
The suspect was taken to Hospital Cyberjaya for treatment and is currently being closely monitored in the intensive care unit (ICU).
The case is being investigated under Section 307 of the Penal Code for attempted murder, which carries a penalty of up to 10 years’ imprisonment and a fine upon conviction. If the injuries result in permanent disability, the offender may face up to 20 years in jail.
