Eight Arrested Over RM500,000 Cash Robbery In Pasir Gudang, Including Disabled Man

Date:

Eight individuals, including a physically disabled man with partial paralysis, were arrested in connection with a RM500,000 cash robbery in Pasir Gudang’s Trade Centre on 24 February. The victim, a 45-year-old Pakistani man and foreign worker supplier, had just withdrawn the money from a bank with his wife when two suspects allegedly confronted him, with one brandishing a pistol and seizing two bags of cash intended for employee salaries.

Johor Police Chief, Datuk Ab Rahaman Arsad, said a joint operation by the Johor CID’s D9 unit and Seri Alam police led to the arrests of seven men and one woman aged between 23 and 53 within 24 hours at locations in Seri Alam and Tampoi. Investigations revealed two men, aged 30 and 32, were the main masterminds, while the wheelchair-bound suspect allegedly provided insider information on the victim’s movements. Two suspects also had prior criminal and drug records.

Police seized a Toyota Hilux, Perodua Myvi, two fake vehicle registration plates, two grey bags, a cap, a black face mask, white gloves, and cash totaling RM487,350. This included RM20,700 in RM10 notes, eight bundles of RM50 notes, and RM65,830 frozen from a suspect’s company account. The remaining cash is believed to have been spent on personal expenses.

Six suspects are set to face charges under Sections 399, 395, and 120B of the Penal Code, and Section 36(1) of the Arms Act 1960 for possession of imitation weapons.

Two others will be released as prosecution witnesses under Section 118 of the Criminal Procedure Code, with proceedings scheduled for Friday.
