A 69-year-old man sustained injuries to his face and body following a violent confrontation at an eatery in Kapar, Klang, on Sunday morning.
North Klang District Police Chief ACP S. Vijaya Rao confirmed that the attack, which occurred around 6:09 AM, appears to have stemmed from a misunderstanding between two groups at the premises. According to police reports, the victim and his friend were approached by a group of men, and the conflict reportedly escalated when the complainant ignored remarks made by the group. This prompted one of the suspects to brandish a knife and swing it at the elderly victim.
Before fleeing the scene, the assailants allegedly issued a chilling criminal threat, vowing to return and shoot the complainant in the near future. The victim was rushed to Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital (HTAR) in Klang, where he is currently reported to be in stable condition while receiving treatment for his wounds. Acting on intelligence, police successfully apprehended one of the suspects shortly after the incident. A background check revealed the individual is a repeat offender with a significant criminal history, including eight previous criminal records and three drug-related offenses.
The arrested suspect has been remanded for three days to assist with the ongoing investigation. Authorities are now focused on tracking down the remaining two suspects involved in the assault and the subsequent threats. The case is being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons and Section 506 for criminal intimidation.
ACP Vijaya Rao urged anyone with information regarding the incident or the whereabouts of the fugitives to contact the investigating officer, Insp Dayang Siti Aishah Awang Ramli, at 010-5825382, or visit the nearest police station. The police have emphasized their commitment to bringing all involved parties to justice following the brazen early-morning attack.
