Factory Worker Killed After Motorcycle Hits Fallen Tree Branch Then Struck by Car

A factory worker has died after being thrown from his motorcycle when it skidded upon hitting a fallen tree branch on Kilometer 56 of Jalan Sungai Rengit – Kota Tinggi early this morning.

The victim, Kizer Jaafar, 59, was riding a Yamaha Lagenda 115ZRI when he was struck by a Perodua Viva whose driver, also 59, could not avoid the collision.

Kota Tinggi District Police Chief, Superintendent Yusof Othman, said the victim was confirmed dead at the scene due to severe head injuries.

“At around 6:05 a.m., we received a report of a fatal accident involving these two vehicles. The motorcycle, traveling from Kota Tinggi towards Sungai Rengit to go to work, skidded after hitting a fallen tree branch on the road. The rider was thrown onto the road and subsequently hit by a Perodua Viva driven by a local man who could not avoid him,” he said in a statement today.

The victim’s body was sent to the Forensic Unit at Kota Tinggi Hospital (HKT), and the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
