A fatal explosion occurred at a glove manufacturing factory in the Tanjung Industrial Area last Saturday, resulting in the death of a foreign worker. The Selangor Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) confirmed that the incident happened at 2:56 pm while the operator was handling washing and drying processes for glove products.
The worker was loading gloves into a washing machine and transferring them into a dryer when the accident took place. After completing these tasks, he returned to inspect the dryer and held onto the door frame. CCTV footage revealed that when the operator pressed the ‘start’ button, the dryer door suddenly exploded open, striking him and causing him to be thrown backward. He suffered severe injuries and was pronounced dead at a private hospital.
Following the explosion, DOSH issued a Prohibition Notice to the factory, ordering an immediate suspension of all operations pending investigation. Authorities are conducting a thorough probe to determine the cause of the explosion and to hold accountable those responsible under Section 15(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994.
