Farmer Killed in Brutal Machete Attack by Brother-In-Law in Kedah

Date:

A 45-year-old farmer was believed to have been killed after being allegedly attacked by his brother-in-law with a machete in Kampung Pida 3, near Kubang Pasu, last night.

Kubang Pasu District Police Chief Radzi Abdul Rahim said police received a report about the incident at around 7:05 p.m., indicating a fight had broken out between two men.

“The suspect was arrested at his home, and a 30cm machete was seized. The victim’s body was later found lying in a nearby paddy field.

“Before his arrest, the suspect, who was still armed with the machete, tried to attack police officers but surrendered after a 15-minute standoff,” he said.

Radzi added that both the victim and suspect had no prior criminal records, and the motive for the attack is still under investigation.

The victim’s body was sent to Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital in Alor Setar for a post-mortem examination, while the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

He also urged the public not to spread unverified information regarding the incident.
