Date:

A tragic case has emerged involving a 6-year-old Indian boy from Johor Bahru, believed to have been murdered and his body discarded in Negeri Sembilan. The boy’s father has been arrested by police and is currently under a seven-day remand to assist with investigations.

Iskandar Puteri District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Kumarasan, confirmed that police received a report on July 24 from a 36-year-old man. The man claimed that he had taken his son out to buy food the evening before, left him alone in the car briefly, and returned to find the boy missing.

Following investigations, police arrested the father and are now investigating under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001 for neglect or abuse, and Section 182 of the Penal Code for lodging a false police report. The remand has been extended until July 31.

In a statement issued last night, ACP Kumarasan added that the suspect has no prior criminal record, and his urine tested negative for drugs. The child was the only son in the family.

According to earlier reports, the boy, Dinesh Muni Sami, was last seen on July 24 at the Southeast Café in Taman Bukit Indah.

After the father’s arrest, police in Negeri Sembilan, guided by his information, launched further investigations. Around 4 p.m. yesterday, they discovered the boy’s body buried in a remote area of Lenggeng.

Negeri Sembilan Police Chief, DCP Datuk Ahmad Dzaffir, confirmed that the case is now being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder. If convicted, the suspect faces the death penalty or a maximum of 40 years in prison along with possible whipping.
