Father-Daughter Death Case in Changhua: Missing Tongue and Throat Recovered, Memorial Service Scheduled

Date:

The tragic father-daughter case in Fangyuan Township, Changhua, has seen a new development. The mother of the young girl announced today (25th) that the previously missing tongue and throat from her daughter’s body have been successfully recovered and surgically restored. A memorial service is scheduled for September 1 at noon at the Remembrance Garden next to Tunghai Funeral Home in Taichung.

The deceased include 44-year-old man surnamed Lin and his 7-year-old daughter, also surnamed Lin, who were found in a parked vehicle. According to the Changhua District Prosecutor’s Office, the tongue and throat were key tissue samples collected during examination and were meant to be returned to the body after analysis.

The incident occurred in the early hours of July 21. The mother, Ms. Han, had the daughter following a separation from Lin. On July 15, Lin took the child and went missing. Ms. Han reported her daughter missing to Taichung police on July 20. The following day, the father and daughter were discovered deceased in a parking lot, with initial reports suggesting carbon monoxide poisoning. However, the mother expressed doubts about the cause of her daughter’s death, calling for a thorough investigation.

On August 4, as Ms. Han prepared for cremation, she discovered that her daughter’s body was incomplete, with the tongue and throat missing. She was devastated, crying out, “My daughter left this world under unclear circumstances, and now her body is incomplete. I must retrieve what belongs to her and seek justice.”

For clarification, forensic experts explained that the tongue had been sectioned for examination, and the remaining portion, along with the throat, should have been returned to the body. Some mishandling may have occurred during transportation or preparation. To address the family’s concerns, the Changhua District Prosecutor’s Office and forensic team agreed to restore the organs. Considering that the body had begun to decompose, the mother requested that the repair be done directly at Tunghai Funeral Home to prevent further damage.

After extensive coordination, the mother announced today that her daughter’s tongue and throat have been recovered and carefully stitched back in place, allowing the child to rest in a complete state. The body has been moved to the Remembrance Garden in Taichung, with the memorial service tentatively set for September 1 at noon. The mother also emphasized that the ordeal has shaken her trust in judicial and forensic procedures and urged authorities to handle such matters with greater care to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
