A man in Faridabad, Haryana, India has been charged with fatally beating his four-year-old daughter after she failed to count to 50 while being taught at home.
The incident occurred on January 21, when the father reportedly became enraged by his daughter’s inability to reach the target and struck her until she lost consciousness. He then took her to a nearby government hospital, where doctors confirmed her death.
To cover up the crime, he initially told his wife that their daughter had fallen down the stairs while playing. However, upon arriving at the hospital, she noticed suspicious injuries and immediately reported the matter to police.
During questioning, the suspect admitted to the act, explaining that he was teaching the child at home since she was not enrolled in school and became angry when she failed to count to 50.
The couple, who work for a private company, live in a rented home in Jharsentali, Faridabad, and have three children: a seven-year-old boy, a two-year-old girl, and the four-year-old victim.
The father is now in custody, with police continuing investigations and gathering evidence to press charges under applicable laws.
