An elderly man in Thailand shot and killed his 30-year-old son at their home on Thursday, reportedly out of frustration with him.
Police stated that the tragic incident occurred at a residence in Hua Hin district, Prachuap Khiri Khan province. The suspect’s daughter heard a loud gunshot and discovered her father holding a pistol outside her brother’s bedroom. She immediately called the authorities after finding her brother deceased. Their mother was not at home at the time, having gone to the market.
Upon arrival, police found the elderly father sitting outside the house in a state of shock, barely able to walk, and had to be assisted to the patrol car. The victim’s body was found upstairs on his bed with a gunshot wound to the head. The firearm believed to have been used was recovered on the staircase.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect had a history of depression and had previously received treatment. He admitted to killing his son, citing disappointment that his expectations had not been met. Authorities confirmed that legal action would proceed, taking into account the suspect’s mental health condition.
