Female Customer Claims Store Staff Refused to Cook Unless She Gave Her Phone Number

Date:

A female customer claimed she was harassed by a male convenience store employee while placing an order, alleging that he repeatedly asked for her phone number, home address, and even requested to be alone with her before preparing her food, leaving her feeling uncomfortable and frightened.

According to a post shared by the woman on social media, the incident occurred at a convenience store in Kuala Lumpur, where she described her experience as deeply distressing. She alleged that the male staff member persistently tried to strike up a conversation and asked for her phone number and address. He also suggested that they meet outside the store, which made her feel unsafe.

The woman claimed that the employee refused to prepare her order unless she gave him her phone number. She said she initially attempted to provide her husband’s number, but the man insisted that she message him directly. He allegedly offered her free fried rice cakes as well.

“I had no choice but to comply because I was the only customer in the store,” she wrote. “I was driving alone at the time and felt extremely scared.”

She also shared screenshots of messages she claimed were sent by the man afterward, in which he allegedly asked her to go to a specific location and requested confirmation that she would be alone.

“My mind was in complete chaos. All I wanted was to leave the store as quickly as possible,” she said. “But because I wanted to collect my food, I was forced to give my phone number just to resolve the situation.”

The incident quickly gained traction online, sparking widespread discussion. Some netizens expressed concern for the woman’s safety and urged her to lodge a police report and file a complaint with the store’s management.

However, others questioned her actions, suggesting she should have left the store immediately instead of providing her phone number and accepting free food. Some also criticised her for later sharing the man’s photo and phone number online, arguing that this exposed him to online harassment and was inappropriate.
