A fire gutted about 80 per cent of a frozen food factory in Puchong early this morning, with no injuries reported.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations Ahmad Mukhlis Mokhtar said the department received an emergency call at 6.14am regarding a blaze at the factory located along Jalan Utama 2/18 in Taman Perindustrian Maju Jaya.
A fire engine from the Puchong Fire and Rescue Station arrived at the scene within 10 minutes, at 6.24am. The fire involved a frozen food factory building measuring approximately 40 by 80 metres and classified as a Class B structure.
According to Ahmad Mukhlis, the fire spread rapidly, destroying an estimated 80 per cent of the premises. Firefighting operations are still ongoing.
A total of 32 firefighters were deployed, supported by three fire engines, two Emergency Medical Rescue Service (EMRS) units, two water tankers, an aerial ladder platform and a Hilux support vehicle.
The operation is being led by operations commander Norisham Yusoff, with additional support from fire crews from Penchala, Cyberjaya and Petaling Jaya.
No casualties were reported, and investigations are underway to determine the cause of the fire.
