Fire crews from the Negeri Sembilan Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) were deployed to Jalan Dato’ Sheikh Ahmad on Sunday night following reports of a significant fire involving a double-storey bookstore. Senior Operations Commander Mohd Hanafi Wahid confirmed that the emergency call was received at approximately 9:00 pm. Despite the intensity of the flames within the commercial structure, authorities have reported that no casualties or injuries were sustained during the incident.
The firefighting operation saw personnel from the Seremban Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) working in tandem with reinforcements from BBP Seremban 2 to contain the blaze. In a statement released shortly after the incident, Mohd Hanafi noted that the teams were engaged in active fire suppression efforts throughout the evening. Through their coordinated actions, the emergency responders successfully brought the fire under control by 11:34 pm, preventing further spread to adjacent business premises.
In a separate and concurrent emergency, Negeri Sembilan JBPM Communications Officer Muhammad Syazwan Tajuddin reported another fire affecting a forested area in Taman Bukti, Ampangan. Seven personnel from the Senawang Fire and Rescue Station were dispatched to the scene after receiving an alert at around 9:00 pm. The late-night operation presented challenges for the crew, as the darkness made it difficult to immediately ascertain the full extent of the affected acreage.
Initial reports from the operations commander at the Ampangan site indicated that the fire primarily involved the slopes of a forested hill. While the proximity of the blaze to nearby residential housing caused some concern among local inhabitants, Muhammad Syazwan assured the public that the situation remained manageable. Firefighters worked diligently to establish a perimeter and ensure that the flames did not encroach upon the neighbouring homes.
The causes of both the bookstore fire and the forest blaze are currently under investigation by the department’s forensics unit. Officials have yet to determine the total value of losses incurred by the bookstore owner or the exact environmental impact of the hillside fire. As of Monday morning, monitoring of both sites continued to ensure no embers remained that could lead to a reignition of the flames.
