Five-Year-Old Girl Killed in Three-Vehicle Crash on Seremban-Port Dickson Expressway

Date:

A five-year-old girl tragically lost her life in a three-vehicle collision on the Seremban-Port Dickson Expressway yesterday evening. The crash occurred around 6.54 pm at KM16.6 on the highway heading towards Seremban.

Port Dickson District Police chief Supt Maslan Udin confirmed that the incident involved a PLUS emergency response lorry, a PLUS patrol four-wheel-drive, and a Honda CR-V carrying the young victim.

The girl, seated in the front passenger seat of the Honda, sustained severe head injuries and was pronounced dead at UCSI Hospital at approximately 8.10 pm. Her parents, who were also injured in the collision, are receiving treatment at Port Dickson and UCSI Hospital.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the PLUS lorry and patrol vehicle had stopped in the emergency lane to assist another vehicle that had skidded off the road. “It was raining heavily at the time, and the area was dark without street lighting,” Maslan said.

The Honda CR-V, travelling in the same direction, is believed to have lost control, skidding into the rear of the PLUS lorry. The impact caused the lorry to lurch forward and collide with the back of the patrol vehicle.

Authorities have launched an investigation under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless or dangerous driving causing death. Police continue to probe the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.
