Foreign Man Charged After Smashing Counter In KLIA2 Over Missed Flight To Thailand

Date:

A 33-year-old foreign national has been charged in court after allegedly causing a disturbance at KLIA Terminal 2 on April 5, following a missed connecting flight to Hat Yai, Thailand.

KLIA police chief ACP M. Ravi said the incident is believed to have stemmed from a misunderstanding between the man and his wife over childcare arrangements, which led to him missing his onward flight.

According to police, the suspect then allegedly became aggressive at the airport transfer counter, where he smashed a glass panel and a signboard before throwing a water bottle at staff.

During the incident, a security officer was also injured, Ravi was quoted as saying.

The man was arrested at about 10.30am on the same day and later charged at the Sepang Magistrate’s Court on April 7.

He was accused of voluntarily causing hurt and engaging in insulting behaviour, and reportedly pleaded guilty to the charges.

Authorities did not disclose whether sentencing has been delivered at the time of reporting.
