What was supposed to be the start of a new school term ended in heartbreak for a family in Terengganu when a 15-year-old student was killed in a road accident early this morning.
The victim, Nor Azimi Nor Hashim, a Form Three student from Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Padang Midin, died after his motorcycle was involved in a collision at Pengadang Baru at about 6.40am.
According to Kosmo!, Nor Azimi had just stopped at a petrol station before heading home to Belukar Sukai, Kepong. He was planning to pick up his 14-year-old sister so they could ride to school together.
While travelling through Pengadang Baru, his motorcycle was reportedly struck by a Perodua Axia that was exiting a junction. The impact threw Nor Azimi from his bike, which later burst into flames.
He suffered severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
News of the tragedy has drawn an outpouring of grief online, with many offering condolences to the family, especially as the incident happened on the very first day of the new school term. Police are expected to carry out further investigations into the crash.
