Four traffic police motorcycles were destroyed in a fire that also damaged part of a building at the Pasir Puteh District Police Headquarters (IPD) early Thursday morning.
The incident, which occurred at around 2.27am, also involved a civilian motorcycle that was completely burned.
Azhar Elmi Mustofar said the Fire and Rescue Department received an emergency call before a Fire Rescue Tender (FRT) engine and an Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) unit, accompanied by 10 personnel, were dispatched to the scene.
According to Azhar Elmi, firefighters arrived to find the blaze involving several traffic police motorcycles as well as part of the police headquarters building.
“The operations commander conducted a size-up and confirmed that the fire involved four traffic police motorcycles, one civilian motorcycle and part of the building.
“The estimated damage to the motorcycles was 100 per cent, while damage to the building was estimated at around 10 per cent,” he said in a statement on Thursday.
Firefighters successfully brought the blaze under control at around 2.43am before the operation was fully concluded at 3.40am.
No injuries were reported in the incident, and the scene has since been handed over to the police for further action.
Azhar Elmi added that the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
The incident has drawn attention due to the fire occurring within the grounds of a district police headquarters, with investigations expected to focus on the source and circumstances surrounding the blaze.
