French Tourist Caught Smuggling Deer Horns and Skull Worth RM3,000 at KLIA

Date:

A French national was caught attempting to smuggle deer horns and a deer skull at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 2 yesterday.

Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (MCBA) officers from the Goods Inspection Division discovered the items in the man’s luggage before his scheduled flight to Hanoi around noon. The man had no permission or valid documentation for carrying the wildlife products.

MCBA stated that the seized items included two deer horns and a deer skull, with an estimated total value of RM3,000. The suspect was detained and taken to Aeropolis Police Station for further investigation.

The case is being probed under the Wildlife Conservation Act and the International Trade in Endangered Species Act. The items have been handed over to the Department of Wildlife and National Parks (Perhilitan) for further action.
