Gunmen launched an attack on the headquarters of the Frontier Constabulary paramilitary force in Peshawar on Monday, authorities said. The assault also involved two suicide bombers, killing three people, according to sources.
A senior official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said one bomber struck the main entrance while the other managed to enter the compound. “Law enforcement personnel, including the army and police, have cordoned off the area and are carefully handling the situation as we suspect there are terrorists still inside the headquarters,” the official added.
The paramilitary headquarters is located in a densely populated area near a military cantonment. Roads leading to the site have been closed, and security forces continue to secure the surrounding area.
A local resident, Safdar Khan, told Reuters, “The road has been closed for traffic and cordoned off by the army, police, and security personnel.”
Authorities are continuing operations to ensure all threats are neutralized and to investigate the incident.
