High Court Acquits Former Lorry Driver Of 172.6kg Meth Trafficking In Segambut

Date:

The High Court has cleared 29-year-old former lorry driver V Lingkswaran of methamphetamine trafficking charges, ruling that the prosecution failed to prove he was responsible for 172.6kg of syabu discovered at a Segambut double-storey house four years ago.

Delivering the verdict, Justice Azhar Abdul Hamid stated that Lingkswaran had raised reasonable doubt in the prosecution’s case. “The defence presented a version of events that conflicted with the prosecution’s account,” he said.

According to the defence, multiple individuals had access to the property, and Lingkswaran did not have exclusive control over the drugs found in the living room.

Lingkswaran faced the charge of trafficking the drugs at the residence around 1.30pm on September 17, 2022. Six prosecution witnesses testified, while Lingkswaran and two others gave evidence for the defence.

He was represented by lawyer Sean Dudley, while deputy public prosecutor Wan Ahmad Hijrah Wan Abdullah handled the case for the prosecution.
