An alleged bullying incident broke out on the afternoon of the 24th at a vocational high school in New Taipei City, where a senior student reportedly attacked a junior over a minor collision. The third-year boy, unhappy after bumping into a first-year girl, allegedly cut off a chunk of her hair with scissors and even dragged her down the stairs. The victim’s parents, furious after learning what happened, have filed police reports for assault and unlawful confinement.
The victim was left with bruises all over her thighs and calves, an injured right hand covered with bandages, and a large section of her hair forcibly cut. The incident occurred around 2 p.m. According to the victim’s mother, she was shocked and heartbroken upon hearing what her daughter had endured.
The girl’s parent recounted the attack emotionally:
“Because my daughter is very petite and he’s much stronger, he grabbed her by the hair and dragged her. He didn’t let her walk. He pulled her while she was lying on the ground, dragging her from the third floor all the way down to the first floor.”
Investigations show that the two students, a senior and a junior, had collided around 9 a.m. Angered by the encounter, the senior returned an hour later, shouting outside the girl’s classroom. He later entered the classroom with scissors, cut her hair, and then dragged her down the stairs.
Although the school later arranged a mediation session between the senior, the victim’s family, and school representatives, no agreement was reached. The victim’s family insisted on pursuing charges of assault and unlawful deprivation of liberty.
Police have completed the required campus safety and child protection reports, and have notified social welfare agencies to step in and provide further support.
