Home Minister: Police Must Accept Reports Regardless of Attire

Date:

Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail has emphasized that police must accept all reports from the public, regardless of the complainant’s attire, following an incident at Jasin police headquarters.

A woman and her daughter were initially denied the opportunity to file a traffic accident report due to a dress-code violation, reportedly because of the length of the woman’s skirt.

“No matter what, proper attire is something we uphold. But the report must still be accepted,” Saifuddin said during the ministry’s monthly assembly.

He added that existing circulars on dress codes serve only as guidance and should never prevent citizens from seeking police assistance, particularly in emergencies.
