A couple’s journey to work in Singapore ended in tragedy after their motorcycle was involved in a fatal crash at KM 0.6 of the Linkedua Highway southbound on Tuesday.
Iskandar Puteri District Police Chief, ACP M Kumarasan, said the incident occurred at about 2.40pm when the 31-year-old rider, with his 29-year-old wife as pillion, reportedly lost control of the motorcycle before crashing into the rear of a slow-moving lorry due to traffic congestion.
He said the male rider, a local, died at the scene from severe head injuries, while his wife sustained head and left arm injuries and was sent to Sultanah Aminah Hospital for treatment. The lorry driver was unharmed.
The victim’s body was later sent to the same hospital for post-mortem examination. The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
Police have urged witnesses or anyone with information to contact the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division of Iskandar Puteri District Police Headquarters to assist with the investigation.
