Police are investigating an incident at the Ayer Keroh rest and service (R&R) area in Melaka that went viral online, involving a trailer that struck several illegally parked vehicles.
Videos circulating on social media from Dec 28 show members of the public attempting to move a car that was obstructing the path of a long trailer entering the R&R area. During the manoeuvre, the heavy vehicle was seen colliding with a number of parked cars, causing damage.
Alor Gajah district police chief Superintendent Ahmad Abu Bakar confirmed that the incident involved a trailer and three private vehicles.
“The accident involved a heavy vehicle trailer and three private cars. Further investigations are ongoing,” he told Berita Harian when contacted.
He added that the case is being handled by the Bukit Aman Highway Investigation Unit (USLR).
Police have urged the public to refrain from speculation and to cooperate fully with the authorities to facilitate investigations into the incident.
