A house in Indonesia was reportedly demolished after a divorced couple agreed to dismantle the property following their separation, according to viral social media reports.
The incident took place in Karangawen Village, Tambakromo District, Pati Regency, Central Java, on Thursday.
Karangawen village head Sutiyono confirmed that the demolition was carried out based on an agreement reached between the former couple, identified as AR and RT, who had already finalised their divorce.
“We held several discussions, but the final decision remained the same,” he said.
The couple’s marriage had been officially dissolved by the Religious Court in Sampit, Central Kalimantan, where they had previously tied the knot.
Reports stated that the divorce was initiated by the wife.
It was also understood that the land belonged to the ex-wife, while the house was jointly built during their marriage. The initial plan was for the property to be handed over to their only child, who is currently attending secondary school.
However, tensions escalated when the ex-husband reportedly became upset after learning that his former wife had accepted a new marriage proposal, leading to further disputes over the property.
