Date:

An Indonesian man tragically died after being buried under a three-metre-deep landslide while working on septic tank installation in Bandar Penawar yesterday.

Senior operations commander and assistant fire superintendent Mohd Khairul Sufian Dahari said the 52-year-old victim was pronounced dead at the scene in front of a factory under construction.

A nine-member rescue team was dispatched in a Fire Rescue Tender vehicle following an emergency call at 1.00pm.

“Two plumbing workers were buried in the landslide. A 32-year-old local man managed to escape, but the other victim was trapped under approximately three metres of soil,” he said.

The rescue team excavated the site and used rope systems to extract the victim. The body was recovered at 4.00pm, and the operation concluded by 4.25pm.
