JAINJ Detains Two Men Following Indecent ‘Rocking Car’ Incident

Date:

The Johor State Islamic Religious Department (JAINJ) has detained two men, a local citizen and a foreign national, after they were allegedly discovered engaging in indecent acts inside a stationary vehicle. The incident occurred at approximately 6:00 pm yesterday during a routine patrol conducted by religious enforcement officers. Authorities were reportedly inspecting several vehicles parked in a secluded area when they noticed a car that appeared to be rocking despite the engine and air conditioning being operational.

According to an official statement from JAINJ, enforcement officers initially approached the vehicle from behind under the impression that it might be a broken-down car. However, upon closer inspection, the officers observed suspicious movements through the rear windows, which were not heavily tinted. The officers reported seeing the two occupants involved in an intimate encounter, prompting them to knock on the car window and present their official authority cards to the individuals inside.

It took approximately one minute for the occupants to unlock and open the vehicle doors for the authorities. Upon being ordered to exit the car, the two men initially hesitated as they were found to be partially undressed, wearing only T-shirts and lacking lower garments. Once they complied, officers identified the first suspect as a local man in his 30s who is currently single and employed in the district, while the second suspect is a Pakistani national in his 20s who is also single and currently unemployed.

Preliminary interrogations revealed that the pair had met through an internet-based social application approximately one week prior to their encounter. The local man reportedly offered services to other men, explicitly stating his identity and desire for male companionship rather than posing as a woman. The duo admitted that they chose to meet inside the vehicle as a cost-saving measure to avoid the expense of renting a room, and they claimed the encounter was consensual and did not involve any monetary transaction.

The two suspects have been taken into custody for further investigation under Section 56 of the Johor Syariah Criminal Offences Enactment 1997. If convicted of committing indecent acts in a public place, the individuals could face a maximum fine of RM5,000, a prison sentence of up to three years, six strokes of the cane, or a combination of these penalties. This case serves as a stern reminder of the ongoing enforcement efforts by religious authorities to uphold public morality and local laws.
