Kuala Lumpur’s iconic Jalan Bukit Bintang will be fully closed on two nights in early January to facilitate the rehearsal and official launch of the “I Lite U” Festival 2026 Lighting Programme.
Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa said the road closure will take place in stages on January 1 for a dry run and on January 3 for the main event.
“The rehearsal will be held on January 1 from 6pm onwards and will involve a full closure of Jalan Bukit Bintang from Pavilion Kuala Lumpur to the Federal Hotel,” he said in a statement today.
He added that the official launch is scheduled for January 3 from 7.30pm to 10pm, during which the same stretch of Jalan Bukit Bintang will again be completely closed to traffic.
Mohd Zamzuri said the closures will be implemented by Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) and advised motorists to plan their journeys in advance and comply with traffic directions during the affected periods.
The lighting programme is part of preparations for Visit Malaysia Year 2026, with Bukit Bintang — one of the capital’s main tourism and retail hubs — chosen as the focal point for the launch.
