Jealousy and dissatisfaction over a broken engagement are believed to have driven the brutal killing of a 44-year-old woman whose body was dismembered and discarded at several rubbish disposal sites around Taman Permai Indah.
Sabah Police Commissioner Jauteh Dikun said investigations indicate the main suspect was upset after the victim ended their engagement and subsequently married another individual.
Police also revealed that the woman, a foreign national holding IMM13 documentation, was alleged to have used approximately RM7,000 belonging to the suspect during their engagement period.
According to Jauteh, the victim is believed to have gone to the family home of the 70-year-old suspect at the time of the incident to meet him. Authorities suspect an argument broke out between the pair, escalating into violence.
“We believe the motive is rooted in jealousy and dissatisfaction towards the victim. Her marriage to another man is believed to have triggered the suspect’s anger, leading to a dispute that culminated in the murder,” he told reporters at the Sabah Police Contingent Headquarters here today.
Suspect Admits To Acting Alone
Further investigations revealed that the main suspect allegedly confessed to carrying out the act alone, dismembering the victim’s body using a sharp machete.
Police have also detained a second suspect, the elderly man’s son, to assist with investigations as he was reportedly outside the house when the altercation occurred.
The gruesome discovery shocked residents in the area. Yesterday, media reported that the victim’s severed body parts were found at multiple rubbish dumping sites around Taman Permai Indah.
Earlier in the morning, around 6.30am, the victim’s hands and legs were discovered. A subsequent search led to the recovery of her head and torso at approximately 11.40am near the initial location.
The case continues to be investigated as authorities piece together the full sequence of events surrounding the killing, which has sent ripples of concern through the local community.
