A Malaysian jobseeker’s post about a recent job interview has gone viral after she shared the low salary and harsh working conditions attached to the role.
In a post on Threads, she revealed the job offered RM1,700 per month, but after EPF and SOCSO deductions, her take-home pay would be around RM1,500. The position requires six-day workweeks from 8:30 am to 5 pm, with only one rest day, and comes with no annual leave—taking time off would result in salary deductions.
She also claimed that medical certificates are not accepted, meaning employees could face pay cuts even when sick, and public holidays are unpaid. Additional costs include salary deductions for work attire and RM6 daily parking fees, while the job offers no allowances or benefits.
The jobseeker said none of these conditions were disclosed during the application process and were only revealed during the interview, describing the experience as a waste of time for both parties. “I definitely don’t want to work an underpaid job like this, and HR wasted time interviewing me too,” she wrote.
