KL Police Raid Gambling Call Centre Masquerading as Office, 13 Arrested

Date:

Police raided a call centre disguised as a regular office on the 23rd floor of a building along Jalan Kia Peng yesterday, uncovering an online gambling operation targeting the Indonesian market. Acting Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Mohamed Usuf Jan Mohamad confirmed the arrest of 13 individuals—eight local men, three local women, and two Chinese nationals—during the noon raid, part of the ongoing ‘Op Dadu’ crackdown led by the KL Vice, Gambling and Corrupt Practices Crime Investigation Division (D7) with support from the Dang Wangi district police.

The syndicate, believed to have been active since early April, operated daily from 11am to 8pm, offering monthly salaries of RM3,000 to RM4,000 to its employees. Police seized 14 desktop computers, two laptops, Wi-Fi modems, routers, and an attendance machine from the premises.

All suspects are being investigated under the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953 and Section 15(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63. A remand application is expected to be submitted today.
