Kuching Police Arrest Youth Following Claw Machine Vandalism And Theft In Tasik Biru

Date:

Police in Kuching have apprehended a young man suspected of vandalising a claw machine and stealing prize boxes from an entertainment outlet in Tasik Biru, Bau. The incident, which occurred at approximately 4.00am on 22 March, reportedly involved the suspect and an accomplice who arrived at the premises in a Perodua Myvi. After spending some time playing several of the machines, the pair allegedly resorted to force to access the contents of one specific unit.

According to preliminary investigations, one of the individuals manipulated and pulled the corner of the machine’s door until the locking mechanism failed. Once the barrier was breached, the two suspects proceeded to reach inside and extract multiple prize boxes from the display area. The stolen items were then quickly loaded into their vehicle before they fled the scene, leaving behind significant damage to the small-business property.

Following a report on the vandalism, local authorities launched a probe that led to the successful identification and arrest of one of the primary suspects. During the course of police questioning, the detained youth provided a statement regarding his activities on the night of the crime. Furthermore, the suspect reportedly admitted to the authorities that he had been involved in recent substance abuse, specifically identifying himself as a drug user.

The case is currently being investigated under the relevant sections of the Penal Code for both theft and the intentional damaging of property. Police are continuing their efforts to locate the second individual involved in the incident, as well as the vehicle used during the commission of the crime. The authorities have emphasised that acts of vandalism against self-service entertainment machines will be met with firm enforcement to protect local business operators.

The admission regarding the suspect’s drug use has added a layer to the investigation, as police examine potential links between addiction and petty crime in the Bau district. Community members are encouraged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity around late-night business outlets to prevent similar occurrences. The damaged claw machine has been secured as evidence while the legal process against the apprehended youth moves forward.
