A man was killed in a three-vehicle collision at Kilometer 13 of Jalan Bahau-Rompin on Sunday night.
The incident, which occurred around 11.30 p.m., involved a 32-year-old lorry attendant who was on his way home to Padang New Rompin.
Jempol District Police Chief, Superintendent Norhisham Mustapar, said the crash involved a Proton Persona, a Honda City, and a Perodua Viva.
“Initial investigations indicate that the 39-year-old male driver of the Proton Persona was traveling from Bahau toward Rompin when he lost control of his vehicle and veered into the opposite lane.
“The Proton Persona first grazed a Honda City, also driven by a 39-year-old man, before colliding head-on with a Perodua Viva driven by a 32-year-old man,” he said in a statement on Monday.
The impact caused the Proton Persona to catch fire. The Viva driver sustained severe head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, while the Proton Persona driver suffered minor injuries. The Honda City driver escaped unharmed.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.
Police are urging witnesses to come forward and contact Investigating Officer Inspector Muhammad Fasha Haiqal Mohd Faisal at 016-3627746 to assist with the investigation.
