A lorry caught fire along the Kuala Lumpur–Karak highway this morning, bringing traffic heading into the city to a complete standstill.
According to Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar, assistant director (Operations) of the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department, the incident happened around 7:24 a.m. After receiving a distress call, a fire engine with 10 firefighters was dispatched and arrived at the scene by 8:08 a.m. They immediately began efforts to extinguish the blaze. Upon arrival, the lorry was fully engulfed in flames.
The Malaysian Highway Authority posted on Facebook that as of 8:28 a.m., the left lane at kilometer 35.1 was blocked due to the fire, causing heavy congestion. Motorists were advised to plan their trips accordingly to avoid delays in the area.
