The Light Rail Transit Line 3 (LRT3), originally slated to begin operations on September 30, is now expected to launch by the end of this year. Transport Minister Anthony Loke explained that while the project had been scheduled for the third quarter, several safety tests remain, causing a slight delay. “We are committed to ensuring that the initial LRT3 stretch from Klang to Petaling Jaya will start operating before year-end. The project has been closely monitored, and we are confident it will open to the public as planned,” he told reporters today.
Previously, Loke had noted in a parliamentary written reply that the line, spanning 37.8km from Bandar Utama to Johan Setia in Klang, had reached 98.16% completion, with trial runs without passengers planned in two phases to ensure safety. The Train Run (TR) and Full Fast Running (FFR) tests are scheduled to start in mid-April and conclude by the end of June. Following these, the trial operation (TO) will be conducted by Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd, with technical support from the main contractor, pending approval from the Land Public Transport Agency (Apad).
The RM16 billion LRT3 project is expected to serve over two million residents, enhancing connectivity between Klang and Petaling Jaya.
