RM2.5k a month… but five people’s workload? That’s what one Malaysian fresh grad says their first job feels like. Their boss calls it “multitasking” — but online, people are calling it what it is: underpaid and overworked.
The Threads post blew up overnight, with thousands of Malaysians chiming in. One wrote, “And then they add ‘must be able to work under pressure and tight deadlines.’ Their brain ah.” Another shared how their degree landed them… an admin job. “I know you have a degree but there’s no executive position right now. But your job suits your degree anyway — admin job,” they were told.
Some say they’ve been there, hated it, and left. Others joke that it only gets worse as you climb the ladder: “Same tasks, but maybe multiple bosses from different companies. Then you will know the fresh grad job was easy hahahaha.”
Judging by the comments, this isn’t an isolated case — juggling multiple roles for a tiny salary is practically a rite of passage for fresh grads in Malaysia.
