A 24-year-old male student’s disturbing behaviour landed him in trouble after he allegedly committed indecent acts against three women who were jogging, resulting in his arrest and remand at the Magistrate’s Court today.
The suspect was detained yesterday, and Magistrate Nurasidah A Rahman granted a four-day remand starting today to allow police to complete their investigation under Section 377D of the Penal Code.
According to reports, the incident occurred at 8 a.m. on January 26, with one of the victims being a 34-year-old housewife. The women were jogging along Jalan Parit Sempadan Laut in Parit Raja when they heard noises coming from nearby bushes.
The victim then saw an unidentified man partially unclothed near the bushes. The suspect allegedly followed the women, causing them to panic and flee. One of the victims screamed for help from nearby residents, prompting the suspect to retreat into the bushes and redress himself before heading toward a parked car and leaving the scene.
The women later lodged a police report identifying the suspect, who was apprehended based on the information provided. During questioning, the suspect claimed he had gone to the area to fish, despite the location being a bushy area rather than a suitable fishing spot.
Further investigation revealed that the suspect admitted to committing similar indecent acts on two previous occasions.
