Man Accidentally Shoots Himself Dead In Front Of Camera During Gun Demonstration

Date:

A 28-year-old man in Delhi, India, tragically lost his life after accidentally discharging a firearm into his own chest while recording a video demonstration. The victim, identified as Pawan Kumar, was reportedly showing his viewers how to load a handgun magazine when the fatal incident occurred. Despite frantic warnings from his cousin, who was filming the session, Pawan pulled the trigger at point-blank range, resulting in his immediate collapse and death.

According to a report by the Times of India, the incident took place while Pawan’s cousin, Himanshu, was using a mobile phone to document the handling of the weapon. Video footage circulating online shows Pawan smiling at the camera as he inserts a loaded magazine into the handgun and racks the slide to chamber a round. Recognising the escalating danger, Himanshu can be heard shouting warnings, twice pleading with Pawan not to fire the weapon.

Tragically, the verbal warnings failed to prevent the catastrophe. Pawan proceeded to press the muzzle of the handgun against the left side of his chest, appearing to believe that the safety mechanism was engaged. After a brief glance at the lens, he squeezed the trigger. The sound of a single gunshot followed, and Pawan slumped to the ground unconscious as his cousin’s screams could be heard in the background of the recording.

Local police were alerted to the situation by hospital authorities after a patient was brought in with a severe gunshot wound. Upon arrival, officers confirmed that Pawan had already succumbed to a visible injury on his left chest. Preliminary investigations revealed that the firearm belonged to Himanshu, who had recently obtained a legal licence for the weapon.

The authorities have since seized the handgun and 10 rounds of live ammunition from the scene for forensic analysis. A formal investigation has been launched into the case, involving potential charges related to the negligent use of a firearm and culpable homicide not amounting to murder. This tragedy serves as a grim reminder of the absolute necessity for strict firearm safety protocols and the dangers of performing high-risk stunts for social media content.
