A 27-year-old woman faced a frightening ordeal when she alleged that a man groped her while she was asleep in her rented room on Jalan Sentul in the early hours of 19 February.
The victim, who works as a hotel manager in the capital, reported the incident at 1.49am.
Sentul District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Basri Sagoni, said initial investigations revealed that the suspect, a 33-year-old Indian man who also rents a room in the same house, allegedly touched the victim inappropriately while she slept.
“The victim realised the suspect was groping her and screamed, prompting him to flee the scene,” he said in a statement tonight.
The case is being investigated under Section 354 of the Penal Code, and police are actively working to locate and apprehend the suspect.
