Man Allegedly Kills Mother, Wife And Two Daughters Before Taking Own Life In Kuantan

Date:

A tragic family murder-suicide in Taman Cherating Damai has taken an even more heartbreaking turn, as the post-mortem of the youngest victim was conducted this morning on what would have been her second birthday.

Nur Sumayyah Humairah, born on 18 February 2024, is believed to have been killed by her father in the early morning incident yesterday. Her body was taken to the Forensic Medicine Department at Hospital Tengku Ampuan Afzan (HTAA) for examination.

Post-mortem procedures for three other victims — her five-year-old sister Nur Saffiyah Humairah, their 55-year-old grandmother, and their 28-year-old mother — began at approximately 8.45am today. The father’s body was examined at 4pm yesterday, while the mother’s post-mortem was carried out at about 8.30pm.

All examinations are expected to conclude after 1pm, with the victims set to be laid to rest at the Cherating Islamic Cemetery later this afternoon.

In the 7am incident yesterday, five family members were found dead inside a single-storey terrace house in Taman Cherating Damai. Pahang Police Chief Datuk Seri Yahaya Othman said initial investigations indicate that the 32-year-old suspect allegedly stabbed his wife, two daughters and mother before taking his own life in a bedroom beside the bodies of his wife and children.

Slash wounds were found on the victims, and police recovered a knife believed to have been used in the killings.

The suspect had previously worked as a lorry driver in Klang, Selangor, and reportedly returned to Kuantan earlier this month to work as a security guard. He had been living at his mother’s house together with his family and siblings.

Authorities are investigating the motive, with financial difficulties believed to be a possible factor. Police have also stated that, based on preliminary checks, the suspect had no known record of receiving mental health treatment.

As of 10am today, family members, neighbours and acquaintances had yet to gather at the hospital’s forensic department, while investigations into the case remain ongoing.
