Man Allegedly Kills Wife, Picks Up Son from School, Then Surrenders

Date:

A man in Gual Ipoh, Tanah Merah, is suspected of murdering his wife in their home before calmly collecting their youngest child from school and later surrendering to the police.

Berita Harian reported that the 63-year-old man allegedly attacked his 40-year-old wife with a sharp weapon around 10am. Two hours later, he is believed to have left the house, picked up their 10-year-old son after school, and then walked into a nearby police station to turn himself in.

The victim’s younger brother, Mohd Jony Abdullah, 30, said the family heard no signs of a struggle and only learned of the tragedy when police arrived. What made the situation even more heartbreaking, he added, was that the killing happened in the kitchen — and the couple’s young son returned home to find his mother dead on the floor.

Mohd Jony said his sister, Mastura Abdullah, had been working as a cook in Selangor for the past year and only returned home every few weeks. She had arrived that morning after hitching a ride back to the village, but within an hour of reaching home, she was killed.

He said the victim suffered multiple stab wounds to the front and back, though the weapon has not yet been identified. After the post-mortem, she will be buried at the Kampung Paku Muslim Cemetery.

Earlier today, local media reported that the woman died at the scene from her injuries. Tanah Merah district police chief Superintendent Mohd Haki Hasbullah confirmed the case, adding that investigations are ongoing.
